In this episode, Team France takes a well earned break from the hard (but rewarding) life of an Action Team…
After a busy Christmas period, we were all looking forward to some well earned rest (if we say so ourselves), by the seaside in sunny Biarritz! Real life, as I’m sure many of you will know, Dear Readers, is rarely that simple, and so 24 hours before our departure we discovered that our train had been cancelled due to strike action. After a tense few hours, however, we had rebooked train tickets and were more ready than ever for a holiday and break from our day-to-day life in suburban Paris…
Biarritz treated us very well indeed! Our week there was full of crêpes, ice cream, photo shoots, big waves, pizza and film nights.
We arrived to scorching temperatures of over 7°C (a very welcome change from 0° in Paris!) which, along with the beach less than 10 minutes down the road, helped us all feel like we were really on our holidays. Days consisted of eating, exploring, eating, watching surfers, eating, watching films, exploring again and sleeping (often with a late night snack)!
Jennie and Hamish both took the opportunity to spend some time in the sea whilst we were away, which was either ‘absolutely freezing’ or ‘not that bad’ depending on who you ask!
One of the joys of living in mainland Europe, as we discovered, is how easy it is to hop across the border and visit a new country for a day. So, since we were staying so close to the Spanish border anyway, we booked some bus tickets and decided to spend a day in San Sebastián!
We spent time on the beach, climbed a hill to find a castle (complete with a statue of Jesus), admired the views and watched a puppet Beatles performance!
Whilst on our holiday, we bumped into a few celebrities in and around Biarritz, and we thought it would be a shame not to include the star-studded list of names: Brendon Urie (and his bodyguard/decoy), Sir David Attenborough, Graham Norton, Julie Walters and Miranda Hart. Watch this space, as Team France now have many friends in influential places and so are sure to be stars before long!
We’re all very grateful to God for the rest were able to take over our holiday period and, whilst we’re raring to go and get stuck back into projects, we would appreciate prayer for sustained energy as we find our feet again!
Love from the now incredibly tanned Team France x
