Qui sommes-nous?

It’s time to say “bonjour!” to this year’s lovely Team France (if we do say so ourselves), and to get to know us a little better before we launch into the madness of living and serving abroad for the next 6 months!

First of all, there’s Hamish who is the only boy on Team France AND the only Scot. He’s from Dundee and lives with his parents, older sister, younger brother and wee sister.

Bridget is the brains of the team and lives near Cardiff with her parents and younger brother.

Jennie is from Didcot and lives with her parents, brother and older sister, and, so far, it seems that she knows every member of BMS staff personally.

Ruth is from the glorious city of Sheffield, lives with her parents and older brother, and is the team’s highly skilled blog writer.

Here’s some quick ‘get to know you’ questions so you can dive a little deeper into our inner thoughts…

Hamish: Dogs

Bridget: Can I say chickens?

Jennie: Cats!

Ruth: Dogs!

Hamish: Summer, because it’s warm and I can go surfing more!

Bridget: Winter! I’m too pale for summer

Jennie: Winter

Ruth: Summer

Hamish: Tea

Bridget: Orange juice! But I usually just drink water

Jennie: Tea, but I do love a good coffee

Ruth: Neither, hot blackcurrant is the king of hot drinks

Hamish: Cornwall, because  it’s beautiful and has some good waves to surf in the summer

Bridget: Somewhere with mountains, I’d love to climb Everest one day

Jennie: Camping in the Lake District

Ruth: A road trip across the USA with friends is my dream holiday!

Hamish: Pizza, I quite like a cheeky meat feast

Bridget: Any form of pasta, but particularly with peas, cheese and pesto

Jennie: Salted popcorn

Ruth: Potatoes are the best because they’re so versatile and always delicious!

Hamish: I’m an RNLI beach lifeguard

Bridget: A heron once flew into my head

Jennie: I’m a twin!

Ruth: I’ve had lunch with Greg James from Radio 1

Hamish: Giving a lesson to a school class about what we’ll be doing next year because it has been really encouraging to see how well the team can work together

Bridget: The 2nd week of Training Church because of we were able to achieve so much more than we thought we’d be able to!

Jennie: The Min Y Don team building week because it strengthened our team relationship

Ruth: Hanging out with all the other Action Teamers during free time (especially film nights and a Mario Kart tournament!)

Hamish: I’m most excited to learn the French language!

Bridget: Finally getting stuck into the projects we’ve heard and talked so much about!

Jennie: Getting a chance to immerse ourselves into French culture and history!

Ruth: I can’t wait to see God work in and through us in the next few months!

Hamish: The culture shock because I’ve not done much travelling before

Bridget: Learning the language!

Jennie: Having to deal with transport and potential transport issues as we aren’t working in the same area that we’re living

Ruth: Living by ourselves, away from family and friends, all in a new country!

We hope you all feel like you know us a bit better now, and we can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all, so please watch this space for more exciting stories of our adventures and God’s work in France! If you would like to pray for us, we’d love it if you could praise God for all the things we’ve enjoyed so far, and pray through the anxieties we’ve listed.

Love from Team France x
